About Us

Shivalaya Yoga Ashram is a spiritual heaven for yogis, seekers and anyone pursuing wisdom, peace, and divine transformation. The ashram is sequestered on a hilltop overlooking the breath-taking Begnas Lake in Nepal.

We believe yoga is one of the most valuable gifts of nature. Our environment, practices, and teachings are strongly bound by Mother Earth. Following an authentic Yogic Culture, yoga is taught and practiced around the lake, rivers and mountains. The mountains and forests surrounding our abode recharge our energies as well as calm the mind.

VISION

To cultivate discipline and love within
To recognize the true authentic self
To develop the Light Warrior within

MISSION

We appreciate nature as our greatest teacher and through Patanjali's eight limbs of Yoga we practise and embody methods to cultivate the love and discipline needed to recognize the authentic self within, the natural self.

VALUES

We emphasise on the rituals surrounding the practice, to give you the best foundation for keeping your self practice regular, when you are back into a more busy lifestyle, than what we live in the ashram.

AMAN NOUGAIN

India

Yoga Trainer NepalGrowing up in a traditional Indian family he has a strong foundation of spiritual practice from childhood. His mother is a Yogi, which influenced the whole family to understand the 8 limbs of yoga and also the practice of them. He grew up in Rishikesh, also called the capital of Yoga, this is a very spiritual place situated in the foothills of the Himalayas, with the holy River Gangaji giving high spiritual energy to everyone around. Growing up he wanted to be an engineer and therefore pursued and completed a polytechnic diploma with the vision of finishing an electrical engineering degree. While studying the diploma his mother influenced him with her journey within Yoga. So, when the choice was there to be made, he switched his path into Yoga and enrolled into a 2-year long journey of working and attending classes at Rishikesh Yog Peeth in India. Here he was trained in Hatha and Ashtanga rooted in traditional style of Ghatastha Yoga (Kriya, Mudra, Bandha) as well as in Anatomy, Pranayama, Meditation, intention-setting. Trained to see the individual student, to be able to give the best variations to the specific individual. A lot of focus on adjustment to enhance the student’s alignment. After finishing the 2 years training Rishikesh Yog Peeth sent him to his first teaching job in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India. After Darjeeling he returned to the school to teach drop-in classes in Rishikesh. Then he got a job teaching at a YTT in South Goa, India, which led to a connection to us here at Shivalaya Yoga Ashram. Aman is teaching Hatha, Anatomy and Ashtanga with us. Certifications: Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training 200 Hour, Yog Peeth Rishikesh – Yoga Alliance Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training 300 Hour, Yog Peeth Rishikesh – Yoga Alliance.
