When I am here in the Himalayas I am reminded every day, of the beauty of nature, and how blessed I am to be situated on this beautiful planet called Earth.

We are constantly orbiting the life-giving star of the universe, in English called the Sun. Without the Sun no Earth, no humans, no trees, no animals, no life on Earth at all, to provide us this wonderful home that we all share.

The question for many people is; how do we incorporate the practice of gratitude into the busy life that most people live today?

In Yoga one of the most effective and meaningful practices is called “Surya Namaskar” which in English translates into “Sun Salutation.” This practice is performed at sunrise, it has great benefits both on the mental, physical and spiritual plane;
– Mentally because we build awareness that the sun is the giver of life and that we are nothing without it, so the ego will be challenged, and eventually, we will bow down and surrender.
– Physically because we go through a series of postures that move and stretch the entire body.
– Spiritually because we practice being present, to exclude the external world and focus on the internal.
