Itinerary for Kailash Mansarovar

DAY 1 – Kathmandu to Syabrubesi by Bus
We’re going to drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi in the morning. Syabrubesi is located in Langtang, in Kathmandu’s northern area. We will reach Syabrubesi in around a 6–7-hour drive through the Pasang Lhamu Highway. Spend the night at a guest house.
Altitude: 2380m

Distance: 148 km – 7 hours
DAY 2 – Syabrubesi to Kerung


DAY 3 – Acclimatization
We spend the day at the Kerung, to acclimatize to the altitude. There are options to go on short hikes and roam around the kerung throughout the day. Overnight at a hotel in Kerung

DAY 4 – Kerung to Saga
The route takes us smoothly to the settlement of Saga by ascending and descending the passes of Thong La and La Lung. We will be able to witness Lake Peikutso and the Tibetans’ customary method of yak and sheep grazing along the way. Hotel overnight stay.

Distance: 170 km – 5 hours


DAY 5 – Saga to Mansarovar via Paryang
DAY 6 – Mansarovar Exploration – drive to Darchen
We will be spiritual and perform some rituals (puja) at the bank of the holy lake Mansarovar. Our staff will provide a bucket of hot holy water for each Yatri from the lake Mansarovar for bathing. After completion of our puja and prayers, we will start the Parikrama of the Mansarovar Lake on a Jeep, and continue to the base camp of Kailash, Darchen.

Distance: 110km – 2 hours (Mansarovar Parikrama)
40km – 1 hour (Mansarovar to Darchen)


DAY 7 Darchen Yamadwar – Drirapuk (Kora Day 1)
DAY 8 – Dirapuk to Juthulpuk
Among the three days of Kora, today is the longest and the most difficult day. We will be heading towards the village of Jarok Donkhang first, and hike towards the Shiva-stal. We will rest for some Ame, and take a steep downhill, and get to the banks of the Lham-chu Khir River.

Distance: 19km – 8/9 hours (Dirapuk to Juthulpuk)


DAY 9 – Juthulpuk to Saga (Kora Day 3)
We will spend the morning by touring around the nearby Milarepa cave’s caves and temples. After breakfast, we will climb for three to four hours to finish our Kora and return to the Darchen settlement. We’ll eat there for lunch before heading back to Saga. Hotel overnight stay.

Distance: 290km – 8 hours
DAY 10 – Saga to Kerung
We will take a nice ride on paved Tibetan roads back to the settlement of Kerung, which is at the border between Nepal and Tibet. Today is our day off, so we may relax and spend the night at a guesthouse in Kerung.

Distance: 170 km – 5 hours


DAY 11 – Kerung to Kathmandu by Bus
After completing the immigration procedures at the Nepal-Tibet border, we will drive back to Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu. Spend the afternoon at souvenir shopping and overnight at the hotel.
