Itinerary for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

DAY 1 – POKHARA TO NAYAPUL & TREK TO TIKHEDHUNGA
Approximate Time: Drive 45 mins. Trek 3-4 hours. (7kms)
Elevation: Nayapul (1050m) to Tikhedhunga (1540m)
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Nayapul to begin our trek. Along the way, we’ll pass the TIMS checkpost and enter the Annapurna Conservation Area (don’t forget your permit!). Although it’s a short hike today, we’ll gain some elevation as we follow the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. We’ll spend the night in the quaint village of Tikhedhunga.
DAY 2 – TIKHEDHUNGA TO GHOREPANI
Approximate Time: Trek 5 to 6 hours. Ascent 1300m. 10km.
Elevation: Tikhedhunga (1540m) to Ghorepani (2750m)
Today, we’ll be climbing the “Ulleri Stairs,” which may sound steep, but trust us, it’s worth it! As we ascend, the scenery will take your breath away – picture winding paths through lush forests of magnolia and rhododendron. If you join us during the flowering season, the sights and scents are absolutely incredible! Keep your eyes open for the Nepal grey langur monkey chirping at his peers as he passes through the treetops overhead. This is a day you won’t forget!


DAY 3 – GHOREPANI TO POON HILL TO TADAPANI
Approximate Time: Poon Hill 1.5km (1 Hour). Trek to Tadapani: 5 to 6 hours. 12km Elevation: Ghorepani (2750m) to Poon Hill (3210m) Tadapani (2590m)
Rise and shine, we’ll kick off the day early with a trek to Poon Hill, where you’ll be blown away by the breathtaking panorama of not one, not two, but three Himalayan peaks (Dhaulagiri I, Annapurna I, and Manalsu) illuminated by the warm rays of sunrise. From here, soak up the views of the Kali Gandaki Gorge, over 6,000m deep, and witness the border between Nepal and Tibet as divided by the majestic trans-Himalayan ranges. We’ll head back to our lodge for a late breakfast and then it’s time to hit the trekking path once again!
DAY 4 – TADAPANI TO GHANDRUK
Approximate Time: Trek 4 to 5 hours. Descent 720m. 6.5 km.
Elevation: Tadapani (2590m) to Ghandruk (2000m)
Get ready for a leisurely day as we embark on a downhill trek through gentle forests! As we approach Ghandruk, prepare to be amazed by the spectacular views of Annapurna South and Fish Tail – sights that will take your breath away. And if you have some extra time, make sure to visit the Gurung Museum in Ghandruk with your knowledgeable trekking guide. Learn about the fascinating culture and history of the Gurung people, and take a piece of their legacy home with you.


DAY 5 – GHANDRUK TO POKHARA
Approximate Time: Trek 5 to 6 hours. Descent 1000m. 10.5 km.
Elevation: Ghandruk (2000m) to Nayapul (1050m) extra cost. We will reach Nayapul by early afternoon with plenty of time for the 1-hour drive back to Pokhara. Overnight in Pokhara.
While we still have some distance to cover, the trail ahead is all downhill and relatively easy. As we make our way, keep your eyes peeled for the majestic peaks that surround us – including the stunning Annapurna South – providing a breathtaking backdrop to our final journey.
